About Me
I was born in 1966 in Coventry and from an early age it was clear that I would be an artist. As a very small boy I was encouraged by my parents to draw and for me it became a natural extension of playing. My formal art education took place at Coventry (Lanchester) Polytechnic and then Wolverhampton School of Art and Design. In 1988, I graduated with Honours in Fine Art and Printmaking.
In 2000 I finally took the plunge and became a professional painter after winning the Grand Final of the popular Channel 4 television series Watercolour Challenge, presented by Hannah Gordon ( right )
About my Work
The Grand Final at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire
My preferred medium is watercolour. The kit is light and compact ( bottom left ), and so ideal for working with on location.
I never work from photographs because so much is lost through the medium that the resulting paintings always look utterly lifeless.
I have been inspired by architectural subjects for many years; now I turn more frequently to nature ( bottom right ).
Now that you know a little about me and what inspires my work, why not browse the paintings and drawings? There is a variety of subject matter, ranging from Arctic landscapes to cathedral architecture.
You can come back as many times as you like, so don't forget to 'bookmark' this site as a favourite.
I hope that you enjoy your visit!
